What this directory is

Penang Aircon Guide is an independent directory covering 120 air conditioning contractor businesses across Penang. It exists for homeowners, landlords, and business operators who need to find an aircon company for servicing, repair, or a new install and want some sense of who is actually good before they pick up the phone. Rather than relying on whichever business bought the most ads, we try to organise what’s publicly known about each contractor into something you can compare at a glance.

We’re also plain about the other half of what we do: we generate enquiries for local providers. When you ask to be matched with someone, we pass your enquiry to providers relevant to your request, and we may earn a referral fee for that introduction. That arrangement is disclosed again on the quote page itself, and it has no bearing on how any business is scored or ranked here. A contractor doesn’t rank higher because they take enquiries from us, and they don’t rank lower if they don’t.

Where the listing data comes from

Each profile is built from public business information (things like registration details, service areas, and contact details) combined with a synthesis of recent Google reviews for that business. We don’t republish review text or copy comments wholesale; instead we read through the pattern of recent feedback and summarise what it tends to say about response times, workmanship, pricing, and so on. If you want to read the original reviews yourself, every listing links out to the business’s Google profile so you can check the source directly.

How ranking works

Rankings come from a published rubric applied consistently to the data and review patterns we hold on each business, laid out in full on our /methodology/ page. There’s no manual override and no paid boost inside that scoring. A business that’s listed here can contact us to correct factual details, such as an address, phone number, or service list, but it cannot edit its own score, its sentiment summary, or its position relative to other contractors. That separation is what keeps the rankings meaning something.

Sponsorship, when it appears

Some pages carry sponsored placements. These are always labelled “Sponsored,” displayed in a separate area from the earned rankings, and never blended into the ranked list itself. Buying a sponsored slot does not move a business up the rubric-based ranking; it just buys visibility alongside it.

Who maintains this and how often

Penang Aircon Guide is published by Meridian Guides, which runs independent city directories for everyday services across Malaysia. Editorial oversight of the rankings sits with Janice, Editor, who maintains the scoring and listing standards applied here. Listing data is refreshed on a monthly cycle, and each profile carries a “last verified” stamp so you can see when it was last checked rather than taking that on faith.
